Sitting here at the airport, about to fly back to Iceland for the last wedding of 2024, I can’t stop thinking about how the year started. Our first elopement of the year was pure magic, and it feels right to share it now. Jordan and Zak’s winter wedding was everything: fun, wild, and totally them.
Meet Jordan & Zak
Jordan and Zak are just the coolest. Kind, adventurous, and radiating good vibes, they came to Iceland ready for an epic celebration. Zak Catchem, famous for working with wildlife and catching giant fish, and Jordan, a total dog lover, crafted a wedding as unique as their story. Oh, and can we talk about their rings? Zak’s crocodile-shaped ring, fully covered in diamonds with a green emerald, wins the award for most badass wedding ring ever.
A Private Waterfall Ceremony
Since their faith is important to them, Jordan and Zak wanted a meaningful Christian wedding ceremony but with an Icelandic twist. As iceland elopement photographer and experience designer we found for them the perfect secluded waterfall, where the priest’s words mixed with the sound of rushing water. It felt like something out of a dream: simple, raw, and powerful. This intimate moment made their elopement unforgettable.
Exploring Iceland’s Frozen Wonderlands
After the “I dos” the real adventure began. As their Iceland elopement photographer, we hit some of Iceland’s most stunning winter spots, from dramatic black sand beaches to icy landscapes straight out of a fantasy film. These two didn’t let the cold stop them, they were all about soaking in every epic view and having a blast together.
Dogsledding Finale (Because... Dogs!)
Jordan’s love for dogs came front and center when we wrapped up their adventure with a dogsledding tour. The amazing crew at Dog Sledding Iceland, a family-run team dedicated to their dogs, made it unforgettable. Gliding through snowy trails with excited pups leading the way was the perfect ending, full of joy, laughter, and adventure.
So Thankful to Be Part of It
Being there to capture Jordan and Zak’s wedding was beyond special. Their love, their adventurous spirit, and all the wild experiences we shared made it unforgettable. As a destination wedding photographer, I’m feeling extra grateful for couples like them who remind me why I love doing what I do.
